67 Minutes of Play for Madiba Day
On Sunday 16 July, in honour of Mandela Day, Shimmy Beach Club welcomed the kids from Home of Hope Orphanage for an afternoon of play. Glitter tattoos, jumping castles and balloon animals were the order of the day, followed by lunch for the kids and bubbly and sushi for the incredible women who look after them on a daily basis.
Home of Hope is unique in that it is one of the only homes to take in severely abused and abandoned kids who suffer from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), many suffering from physical and psychological issues that are considered so insurmountable that no other government organisation or NGO will take them. Home of Hope believes that every child deserves a chance and has the right to reach their full potential. Through foster care programs, a special needs school and by providing education and support to family and caregivers, Home of Hope has been working towards improving the lives of hundreds of children, who would otherwise never been given a chance, since 2005.
None of the amazing work they do is possible without extensive donations, fundraising initiatives and volunteers, which is where you come in. Find out more about this incredible organisation and how you can help on their website:
