We caught up with Pretty Pink, who is gearing up to play at Shimmy this December.
We’re completely obsessed with your Instagram page – how do you find time to be active on Social Media and travel the world performing?
Thank you – that’s really nice.
I actually am really interested in Instagram. I look around there all the time for inspiration, and of course if you’re traveling, can take great pictures in all the places you go. Social Media helps a lot to get in touch, and keep in touch with your friends and fans.
Who has been your biggest music inspiration in the last year?
For me, the music inspiration doesn’t just come from one year. I’m inspired by indie bands and totally different music genres.
You have worked with some of the biggest names in music – Who would be your dream collaboration?
Tell us a little more about yourself.
I’m from the Harz Mountains in Germany, it’s a really natural area where you can be very creative.
I started DJing 11 years ago in a club near my hometown. They were just looking for an opening DJ and I didn’t even know if I could play but I tried out, and I was hooked. I did that several times and got discovered by other club and event managers.
When you are in Cape Town this December, what are your TOP “must-do’s” in the city?
I never been in Cape Town before so I have to discover everything.
I’m really excited and I hope I have some time to go all the tourist spots.

With beach clubs increasingly becoming the go-to entertainment venues across the party capitals of the world, as well as the cities which boast magnificent beaches, the hospitality industry is sitting up and taking note of what is obviously a winning formula. A formula that has prompted a global shift towards ‘sunset hour’ being dubbed PARTY O’CLOCK! Shimmy Beach Club, South Africa’s premier lifestyle venue is no exception and has confirmed a line up for their popular Summer Calling that will tempt anyone to spend their time outdoors during the Cape Town summer.
