Shimmy Beach Club – New winter menu & Winter Glow

Shimmy Beach Club & Restaurant is celebrating Winter and inviting everyone to warm up by enjoying their new Winter Menu! I was invited to take a look around and try their cuisine and what I found was a sophisticated yet versatile venue where you can host personal and corporate events big and small. Visitors can go on a culinary journey and socialise while enjoying views of the harbour.

Shimmy Beach Club is promoting their Winter Glow: Restaurant Edition and Winter Glow Club Edition urging socialites to leave their homes despite the cold weather – why stay in just because it’s Winter! They have even prepared a specific Winter menu that is sure to keep you warm with rich flavours and hearty portions that can be enjoyed in a cosy yet sexy venue.

While Winter Glow Restaurant is specific to the restaurant and caters for families and those looking to sit down, enjoy spectacular food and socialise, Winter Glow Club Edition is aimed at a younger crowd who do not allow the cold weather to damper their desire to dress up and party!

But the main motivation to leave your home and eat out is their Winter Menu. Here, Chef Adrian Cook spent time creating an Italian and Mediterranean themed menu with the emphasis being on comfort and heartiness, while still maintaining the art of culinary genius. Basically, if you want to eat out on a cold night, it should be for a good reason, and you can rest assured, a leisurely afternoon or evening enjoying Shimmy’s Winter Menu is worth braving the chill.

For the main course, we tried their Grilled Artichoke, Asparagus & Lemon Risotto with chive scented mascarpone as well as the Smoked Salmon and Curacao Ravioli with pea shoots while for dessert we treated ourselves to the Winter Fruit Crumble with creme anglaise and Guava Cheese Cake with peanut butter ice cream. What a delight! The lemon flavour of the risotto was perfectly balanced with the slight sweetness of the mascarpone, while the ravioli just burst with fresh ocean flavour. The dessert was even better, though I advise sharing with a friend or your partner as portions are quite large. I had never had guava cheese cake before and while the flavour was not over powering, it was light and pleasantly fresh to end off a meal. For those wanting something warmer, the fruit crumble is a definite winner, with the spices of the crumble set off perfectly with the subtle sweetness of the creme anglaise. Chef Adrian quite simply managed to create dishes that ensure flavours are well balanced and compliment each other perfectly. Also available on their menu year round is their famous sushi and pizza.

Being shown around Shimmy Beach Club, my mind kept thinking what a fabulous venue this could be. Sections can be easily cut off in the Restaurant to create privacy for both small and large parties, the Heineken Deck, Restaurant Deck and Private Beach are perfect for warm summer evenings overlooking the ocean, the Lounge great for dancing with lush couches scattered around and the luxurious Whiskey Room and VIP Room ideal for private conferences or small private events. Moms can even bring their children along and let them go wild in the play area watched by dedicated au pairs, while they have some “Me Time”?

Shimmy Beach Club and Restaurant is a great venue to hold business meetings and conferences, special occasions like milestone birthdays, farewells and bachelor/bachelorette parties and glamorous events like product launches, year end functions or award evenings.

So, no excuses! Put on your warmest, coolest outfit and make your way to Shimmy Beach Club and Restaurant, whether it’s to eat, socialise with friends, throw a party – it is a guaranteed to be a hot time out either way!
