Blessed Hope Foundation, in partnership with Bon Amis at Bloemendal and Shimmy Beach Club, will be hosting a fundraising dinner in support of the Hanno Fourie Foundation.
Hanno was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, SMA at the age of 6 months and was only given two months to live. SMA is a condition that causes nerve cells in the lower part of the brain and spinal cord to break down and die, and at this stage, there is no cure for this condition.
When this happens, the brain stops sending signals to the body’s muscles. Babies with SMA can have difficulty crawling, walking, or even breathing. In Hanno’s case, this is a matter of life or death. By the age of 3 years old, Hanno was entirely paralyzed and on life support as he cannot breath on his own. He is drawing pictures, using his iPad, mimicking his older sister. Hanno’s monthly cost runs up to R35k / pm – for his special food, therapy, pharmacy account and other general expenses.
Hanno is in need a new wheel chair, to the value of R252 000! But with his extremely high monthly living cost this seems almost impossible to reach. Blessed Hope Foundation, in partnership with Bon Amis and Shimmy Beach Club, has decided to make it our goal to reach the R200k mark and make life a bit more comfortable for this child & his family. Not only will it be so much more comfortable and made according to Hanno’s special needs, it will also be able to move – Hanno will be mobile for the first time in 5 years, he will be able to move around by himself.
If you share our heart and you feel that you can contribute towards this very special cause.
