Brothers Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen – aka Dutch DJ duo Showtek – are heading to South Africa for two performances in April.
Perhaps best-known to local radio listeners for their 2014 hits Cannonball (Earthquake) featuring Justin Prime and Matthew Koma, and Bad with the French king of all commercially playable collaborations David Guetta, the two have been in the production business since 2001, evolving their style from techno to hardstyle, and progressive and electro house.
The tour dates – Friday 10 Arpil 2015 at Shimmy Beach Club in Cape Town and Saturday 11 April 2015 at H2O/Wild Waters in Jo’burg – imply a slightly smaller vibe (though we would never say ‘more intimate’ or suggest it as a date-nightoption, keeping in mind Showtek’s hardstyle roots and synth-driven sound) that’s perfect for club-goers in search of an end-of-summer throwdown. The Janssen brothers might not be the Will and Kate of the EDM world, but they’ve got plenty of pedigree and enough material to keep even the fussiest of fans entertained. The Cape Town lineup includes Pascal & Pearce, Dean Fuel, Gareth Kenward, Chris Taylor, Jak Skandi, Sam World and Roger D’Lux, while the Jo’burg party will feature 100 DJs, including Fresh, Euphonik, Protoculture, Hungarian duo Stadiumx and Household Funk.
Tickets are from R350, on sale at Computicket. More info is available at Electricmusic.co.za and H2Oparty.com.
