Shimmy Beach Club, Cape Town’s premier venue at the V&A Waterfront, has launched its summer menu – focusing on fresh, vibrant flavours and colours – perfectly suited for beach dining. The new menu will be available from 12 October 2015 until 31 April 2016.
Yet again, the Mediterranean influence is evident in the flavours, while sexy, decadent, visually appealing dishes have been added by Chef Adrian Cook.
Due to its seaside location, there is emphasis on sourcing sustainable, fresh fish and seafood such as the baby cob, crayfish, salmon and tuna. While on the beach, why not try famed signature seafood platter, which is delivered to your table on a large 2-meter dish and serves up to 20 people?
For meat lovers, there is abundant variety. The signature Duck Confit leg and breast remains on the menu, while the ‘Moodie Burger’ is a must-try new addition – a burger filled with jalapeno, feta, wrapped in bacon with avocado, and tzatziki. There are also delicious vegetarian dishes, pizza, sushi and dim sum.
You will find several unusual starters such as the ‘Bloody May Oyster’ or ‘Tuna Tartare’ with a smoked egg yolk. Eight decadent desserts have been added to the a la carte menu such as the ‘Brandy & Coke’ chocolate mousse, or the ‘Pina Colada’ pannacotta served in a pineapple.
A new Pool Deck Menu is also available for summer. This is a selection of casual, light, easy-eating meals, which are perfect for lazy days on the private beach, best enjoyed with a sundowner cocktail overlooking the ocean. Several fresh, fruity or vanilla flavoured cocktails have been added to perfectly complement the setting.
Shimmy Beach Club is set to be the most exciting venue to visit this summer, with a new menu and the return of the renowned Summer Calling parties starting 29 November 2015.
