Shimmy Beach Club’s New Menu Glows Warm this Winter
When a restaurant has “Beach Club” as part of its name, you’d be forgiven for thinking it is not a winter-friendly venue, but anyone who has dined at Shimmy Beach Club during the colder months will testify this is most certainly not the case when it comes to this iconic ocean-side venue.
With floor to ceiling glass doors that look out on to breathtaking ocean views, the Shimmy Beach Club restaurant provides a cosy vantage point to take in the natural surrounds while being encapsulated by the warm, elegant interior. It’s the perfect place to catch the warm glow of the winter sun setting over the ocean – with a big glass of red wine and a delicious, comforting meal, of course.
This season’s winter menu is as comforting as ever, with the return of classic favourites such as the Fresh Local Black Mussels in a creamy white wine and garlic sauce, the famous bacon-wrapped and topped with avo, feta and Pepperdew ‘Moodie Burger’, named after Shimmy’s GM Malcolm Moodie, or the decadent Seafood Platter, as well as the addition of new winter warmers such as the Red Wine Braised Springbok Shank, the Prawn and Chicken Curry and Roasted Butternut Risotto – served in a butternut.
For dessert, get ready to tuck into an oozy Chocolate Fondant with homemade salted caramel and chilli ice cream, a show stopping Citrus Milk Tart, or the unconventionally delicious Maple Bacon (yes, bacon) Waffles with Guinness ice cream.
As usual, the menu has been cleverly crafted by Executive Chef Adrian Cook and Head Chef Lunghi to incorporate seasonal ingredients into mouthwatering creations that cater to a variety of tastes.
Following on from the summer menu’s trend, the winter menu is vegan friendly, which now extends to the pizza menu, where vegan cheese is available on selected pizzas at no extra charge. Those following the low-carb lifestyle can enjoy their pizza, sushi and eat it, with a cauliflower base and cauliflower rice available as substitutes.
